Lightweight, Corrosion-Resistant Solutions for Shipbuilding & Offshore Structures
Product Overview:
Our marine-grade aluminum alloy sheets and profiles are specifically engineered for shipbuilding, offshore platforms, and maritime structures. Utilizing 5xxx series (Al-Mg) and 6xxx series (Al-Mg-Si) alloys, these products offer exceptional corrosion resistance in seawater environments, high strength-to-weight ratio, and excellent weldability. Compared to steel, aluminum reduces vessel weight by 40–50%, leading to improved fuel efficiency, higher payload capacity, and better stability.
Key Features Common to Both Sheets & Profiles:
Excellent resistance to seawater and marine atmosphere corrosion
High strength at sub-zero temperatures (ideal for Arctic/Antarctic vessels)
Non-magnetic and spark-free (safe for naval and hazardous cargo vessels)
Good weldability (MIG/TIG) and formability
Low maintenance with no painting required (natural oxide layer)
Fully recyclable (no loss of properties)
Material Specifications by Series:
5083 Alloy (Al-Mg) – The Industry Standard
Highest strength among non-heat-treatable marine alloys
Excellent seawater corrosion resistance including stress corrosion cracking resistance
Outstanding weldability (weld strength efficiency >90%)
Typical tensile strength: 290–350 MPa (depending on temper)
Applications: Ship hulls, superstructures, fuel tanks, deckhouses, helicopter landing pads
5086 Alloy (Al-Mg) – Formability Optimized
Slightly lower strength than 5083 but superior formability and lower cost
Excellent corrosion resistance comparable to 5083
Easier to bend, roll, and form into complex shapes
Applications: Small boat hulls, pontoons, fuel tanks, ductwork, interior components
5754 Alloy (Al-Mg) – General Marine Fabrication
Moderate strength with excellent surface finish and formability
Good corrosion resistance for sheltered seawater exposure
Applications: Superficial structures, railings, ladders, gangways, tender boats
6061 & 6063 Alloys (Al-Mg-Si) – Heat-Treatable Profiles
Medium to high strength after heat treatment (T6 temper)
Excellent extrusion characteristics for complex profile shapes
Good corrosion resistance with proper surface treatment (anodizing or painting)
Applications: Masts, booms, railings, window frames, deck rails, gangways, structural extrusions
